Like every dream - it takes determination, planning, perseverance and sometimes just being in the right place at the right time to make a dream into a reality. That is what D Hanson Ranch is to me – a dream that is slowly becoming a reality. Since I bought the place in 1992, there has been a lot of hard work put into it by my folks, my friends and by me – but it is slowly coming together.
Due to life’s circumstances, I did not really start riding until late in life, when a co-worker talked me into taking riding lessons at a local riding club. Little did I know that this would be the catalyst to making my dream into a reality because it was at this club that I met my dear, long time friends, mentors, and my coach – Gord Trueman. Along with my folks and my family helping me and giving me grief when I needed it, Gord and Tammy have been there for me all the way through.
In addition to raising well bred, talented reining and cutting bred horses, I also raise laying hens, turkeys and heritage poultry. Always busy!
I have done some showing on the SRHA circuit and have plans on seeing the show pen again real soon. It has been too long!! In 2012 the first foal crop from my stud, Dunitsmart Thistime, hit the ground and I am pleased with the results. Check out the stallion page for more information on Dunitsmart Thistime.
While checking out the site, if you see something that interests you (even if I currently don’t have it listed for sale) give me a shout. And if you are in the area – stop by for a visit as the dogs and I would enjoy the company – the coffee is always on!
